of Hong Kong Association

The Hong Kong Association of Northern California ("HKANC") confirmed its new slate of directors in December 2011. We are pleased to announce that Harriet Leung has been elected to a two year term. Ms. Leung is a Partner and Asia Practice Director at Rowbotham & Company.

HKANC is dedicated to increasing the understanding of Hong Kong's role in the regional and global economies of the 21st Century. The organization serves as a medium for Northern California-based individuals and corporations with an interest in doing business and trade in Hong Kong.

The HKANC was the first chapter of the Hong Kong Association established in North America. Today, the Hong Kong Association has chapters throughout the United States including California, Georgia, Hawaii, Massachusetts, New York and Texas, as well as Canada.

Ms. Leung frequently travels to Hong Kong where she was born, for both business and pleasure. "Her ties to the local business community in Hong Kong and to businesses and advisors in the PRC along with her fluency in Cantonese and Mandarin will bring energy and new ideas to help promote city to city cooperation" says Susanna Kwan, Executive Director of the HKANC.

Ms. Leung is currently working on presentations for both the HKANC and the American Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong regarding corporate investment structures and strategies for US businesses expanding into China. She also maintains the firm's China Blog at www.rowbothamcompany.com.

Rowbotham & Company Co-Founds STEP Silicon Valley

The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners ("STEP") is a unique professional body providing members with a local, national and international learning and business network focusing on the responsible stewardship of assets today and across the generations. It is a worldwide organization with chapters all over the globe.

Brian Rowbotham recently co-founded the latest chapter - STEP Silicon Valley. Brian is also serving as the chapter's first co-chair.

The chapter's inaugural meeting will take place on February 1st, 2012.

Cindy Hsieh Appointed as Vice Chair

Cindy Hsieh, Rowbotham & Company Tax Manager, has been appointed Vice Chair of International Tax Practice Group for the North America division of Geneva Group International ("GGI").

GGI is a global alliance of independent, leading, accounting, law, management consulting, and trust firms. The International Tax Practice Group consists of 200 tax professionals from 60 countries.

As a Vice Chair, Cindy is responsible for keeping all members in the association abreast of international tax ideas and strategies, law changes, and current news through organizing conferences and teleconferences, as well as acting as a liaison between member firms.

Cindy is looking forward to serving and supporting GGI.
