KQED and National Public Radio
In our history of support for these highly-respected public broadcasting organizations, Rowbotham & Company is always pleased to help underwrite quality nonprofit programming.

Rowbotham provides yearly financial and volunteer support to the pledge drives of KQED and its radio affiliate, National Public Radio (NPR). On June 4, our firm was excited to join in a special pledge night for KQED's presentation of the "Doo Wop returns!" and "R&B: A Soul Spectacular". Each year the Rowbotham staff answered phones and took pledges along side our fellow volunteers from The World Affairs Council of Northern California. With the help of our challenge grant and the dedication of our staff volunteers, KQED has been able to raise substantial funds over the past several years.

Russian National Orchestra
Rowbotham has been associated with this renowned orchestra for two years. The firm provides in-kind support in the form of tax planning, tax return preparation, and consulting services pertaining to the orchestra's U.S. touring program.

The Family Giving Tree:  Annual Christmas Toy Drive

Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year.  It is not just about shopping, decorating, and celebrating, but it is also the season to give and to remember those who are less fortunate.  Lots of under privileged children don't get much during the holiday and don't have a reason to be joyful during the Christmas season.  Rowbotham and Company participated in the toy drive sponsored by the Family Giving Tree.  We fulfilled every children's wish on our sponsored tree.

Shop with a Sheriff Deputy Event
Each year, the San Francisco Deputy Sheriffs Association sponsors local children from financially disadvantaged families to a Christmas shopping spree at Mervyn’s and Toy’s R Us.  A deputy accompanies a child walking through the stores shopping for clothing and school needs and toys. Rowbotham is has support this event consecutive  years.

The AIDS Walk San Francisco
We participated in the annual San Francisco AIDS Walk held at Golden Gate Park.  Staff, family members and friends enthusiastically joined Team Rowbotham to raise funds in support of the AIDS research and service programs in the Bay Area.

The Chinese Hospital of San Francisco
The firm makes annual donations to the Chinese Hospital of San Francisco. These contributions go toward the promotion of health and health awareness of the local Chinese Community.

World Affairs Council of Northern California
The World Affairs Council of Northern California is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization. The Council is a national leader in providing educational awareness programs to local public schools about international affairs, reaching 4,000 teachers annually and educating about 150 students a day. Rowbotham & Company recognizes the value and importance of public understanding and the education of international and foreign affairs and is proud of its financial support and active involvement.

Brian Rowbotham is on the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees for the World Affairs Council. The firm is also a member of the Bay Area International Forum which is comprised of executives who are active in the international business community. Members of the firm also support the International Forum, a subcommittee of the Council which sponsors programs that focus on global affairs.

School Matching Fund Program
The firm provides funding and volunteer support to local schools in the area. We strongly encourage all members of the staff to remain active with their colleges. We have created the "School Matching Fund Program" to help staff members form civil-minded habits and give back to the colleges from which they graduated.

Teaching
Brian Rowbotham, Scott Wentz and Inna Merzheritsky were guest lecturers for several courses on International Taxation at U.C. Berkeley's Haas School of Business.

Immigration Legal Resource Center
In keeping with our international focus, the firm has contributed to the Immigrant Legal Resource Center for several years. This organization works with immigrants and citizens to make legal assistance and social services accessible to all, regardless of income, to build a society that values diversity and respects the rights of all people. Rowbotham contributes to this non-profit through annual sponsorship of the Phillip Burton Immigration and Civil Rights Awards.

Self-Help for the Elderly Foundation
Rowbotham contributes to the Self-Help for the Elderly Foundation through sponsorship of its annual longevity ball. This organization provides care, guidance, inspiration, and special events to over 25,000 Bay Area seniors each year. Through its programs, the foundation continues to improve the lives of many elderly people in our community.

Wu Yee Children Services
Joining the Chinese New Year celebration, Rowbotham remembered the Asian community in the Bay Area.  Wu Yee is a children's organization that assists in creating a nurturing environment to all children and their families in the low income bracket, by advocating on their behalf, empowering parents and providing linguistically and culturally appropriate services.  This service is beneficial to the children of newly immigrated Asians.

The Business Community
Rowbotham has a history of supporting local organizations, including The Japan Society, the Downtown Association, and the Russian-American Chamber of Commerce. Rowbotham serves as accountants for these and other organizations on a pro-bono basis. The firm (and its staff through personal support) has taken on leadership roles for the Tax Aid Foundation and was recently recognized with a five-year support award.
